WiNGS — Diabetes Family Support Program
A peer support program for individuals and families navigating diabetes together. Wellness through Inclusion, Navigation, Growth, and Support.
Launching November 2026

Navigating Diabetes Takes More Than Appointments.
Families living with diabetes face daily decisions, emotional challenges, and the very real need for community and shared understanding. The medical side of managing diabetes gets a lot of attention. The human side, the daily navigation, the family conversations, the financial realities, the moments where you just need someone who gets it, often doesn't.
WiNGS was created to fill that space. It's a free community program where individuals and families can come together, share experiences, support one another, and build habits and routines that support their overall well-being. No clinical setting. No pressure. Just a welcoming, honest community of people navigating similar experiences together.
What You Can Expect at WiNGS
- Connect with others who understand the daily realities of living with diabetes
- Share experiences and learn from others navigating similar challenges
- Build habits and routines that support your family's overall well-being
- Explore the financial realities of managing a health condition through practical conversations
- Find community, encouragement, and support beyond the program sessions
How WiNGS Works
WiNGS sessions are peer support gatherings where participants come together to share experiences, ask questions, and learn from one another in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Sessions include guided peer discussion around daily navigation and family support, shared learning around habits and routines that support overall well-being, and financial literacy conversations through the FLAG curriculum that address the financial realities of managing a health condition. Community connection and encouragement are woven throughout every gathering.
Sessions typically run 90 minutes to 2 hours and will be held at the West Haven Public Library and community partner locations. WiNGS is facilitated by Family First Initiative leadership and community partners.
