Every Family Has a Story Worth Telling.
The values, traditions, and lessons passed from one generation to the next shape who children become and what they build in the future. But in the busyness of everyday life, those stories often go untold. The wisdom gets lost. The connections between generations grow thin. Families who want to build something lasting don't always have a space to sit down, reflect, and intentionally plan what they want to pass on.
TRiO creates that space. It brings families and youth together to explore their history, strengthen the bonds between generations, and use their own stories as a foundation for the legacy they want to build together.

How TRiO Works
TRiO sessions are built around Legacy Circles, guided gatherings where families come together for storytelling, reflection, and intentional legacy planning.
Sessions include family storytelling and oral history exercises, guided reflection on values, traditions, and identity, and multigenerational conversation and connection activities. Legacy planning discussions are tied to leadership and financial awareness through the L.E.G.A.C.Y. framework and FLAG curriculum, helping families connect their values with the practical decisions that shape their long-term future.
Participants are encouraged to see their personal stories not just as history, but as powerful tools that guide the next generation forward. Sessions typically run 90 minutes to 2 hours and will be held at the West Haven Public Library and partner locations.

Who TRiO Is For
TRiO is open to families, youth, and multigenerational groups in West Haven and Greater New Haven. The program is designed to work across generations, bringing parents, children, and extended family members together around shared purpose and intentional planning.
TRiO is free and open to all families. Pre-enrollment will open through the website ahead of the fall 2026 launch.
