But many fathers navigate that responsibility without support, guidance, or a community of other men walking the same path. There's no shortage of pressure on fathers today, but there aren't nearly enough spaces where they can grow, ask hard questions, and be honest about what they're figuring out.
LEAD exists to change that. It's a space where fathers and male caregivers can grow alongside other men who are committed to showing up with intention, leading their families forward, and building something that lasts beyond the moment.

How LEAD Works
LEAD sessions are built around Legacy Circles, small group gatherings where fathers and male mentors come together for honest, facilitated conversation.
Sessions begin with guided discussions focused on the real experiences fathers encounter while raising children and supporting their families. Participants share insights, challenges, and lessons learned in a respectful environment that values honesty and accountability. Facilitators introduce leadership principles from the L.E.G.A.C.Y. framework and connect them to practical family leadership situations.
Financial literacy discussions from the FLAG curriculum help fathers think about stability, planning, and how financial decisions influence their family's long-term well-being. Every session concludes with practical action steps fathers can apply within their homes and relationships right away.
Sessions typically run 90 minutes to 2 hours and are currently held at the West Haven Public Library on Elm Street. LEAD officially launches June 21. Exact scheduling will be announced through the website.

Who LEAD Is For
LEAD is open to fathers and male caregivers 18 and older in West Haven and Greater New Haven. Whether you're raising young children, navigating fatherhood for the first time, or looking to strengthen your presence in your family, LEAD meets you where you are.
LEAD is a community-based fatherhood leadership and mentorship program. Participation is voluntary and open to any father or male caregiver who wants to grow. No referral is required, and no specific background or experience is needed to join.
